The Chicago Design Market a series of pop-up stores on the third floor of Block 37, managed by the Design Museum of Chicago. Market features established local brands alongside emerging artists and designers in the spirit of the Museum’s mission to strengthen the city’s design community by making it more visible and integrated with other communities and the public. Market is open from July to December 2017, with new stores rotating every month.
Market incubates and supports both established and emerging businesses in Chicago, by minimizing risk and lowering the barrier to entry. Rent is based on a commission on goods solid, with no fixed monthly expenses.
In 2017, stores included Cards Against Humanity, You Are Beautiful, The Colossal Shop, Fourneau Bread Oven, Shawnimals & Resketch, Sweet Water Foundation, School of the Art Institute of Chicago, AIA Chicago, Dock 6 Collective, Aviate Press, mercer & winnie, Galerie F, Great Ideas of Humanity, CHCG, Cute Stuff by Tony Rabit and MISC. by MK Studio.
